SMALL GROUPS and the ONE ANOTHER "Come, follow me." This is the call of Jesus to each and every one of us...the call to discipleship. None of us is discipled in isolation. None of us grows all alone. We can't become all that Jesus has called us to be by simply attending church services, or praying and reading our Bibles all by ourselves. WE NEED ONE ANOTHER. That's why God created family. God has also adopted each believer into his eternal family (the universal Body of Christ), and he places us in families of faith which we call the "local church." The entire Bible was written for a people who are living out the faith TOGETHER. The process of Christian discipleship can only take place in the midst of a people who are obeying the commandment to LOVE ONE ANOTHER as Christ loves us. There are dozens of "ONE ANOTHER" commandments in the New Testament (love one another, be hospitable to one another, pray for one another, greet one another, forgive one another, encourage one another, stir one another up to love and good works...and many more.) It is impossible to obey these commandments in the limited context (and limited time) of Sunday morning worship or Wednesday night prayer meeting. We need to be involved in one another's lives in an ongoing, everyday way...and SMALL GROUPS (Bible studies, home groups, ministry groups, etc.) are an ideal way to build relationship and walk the walk together. GROWTH THROUGH RELATIONSHIP is God's principal way of discipling us to His Son. We become more like Jesus as we practice following Jesus with one another. Jesus taught his disciples how to live like him by living life with them day in and day out. If there was a better way to do it, Jesus would have done it. Let's follow his example: get connected in small groups and walk the walk together. JESUS HAD HIS SMALL GROUP. WHERE'S YOURS? Mark can serve you and your church through: --Small Group formation and leadership training. --Bible Study formation and leadership training. --Sunday School class formation and leadership training. --Curriculum creation (or helping you create your own curriculum) --Truth Project (Focus on the Family) formation and leadership training |
